Application: Natural Gas Power Plant
Location: Abernathy, TX
Project Summary:
Installed general building ventilation equipment for turbine building Installed specialized HVAC for conditioned interior spaces.
(4) Large CRVs 144’-0” run of 72” Throat Width
(1) Centrifugal Wall Mount - Model UCEBW-12-1/4, 12” diameter
(2) Hooded Roof Exhaust Fan 48” diameter
(1) Two-Way Diffuser - 36 Model DF-45-1
Project Profile:
Golden Spread Electric Cooperative built a 170 MW Gas-Fired Power Plant to produce energy for over 200,000 customers. The facility utilizes 18 gas turbines to produce desired output.
Moffitt Mechanical installed a ventilation system provided by Moffitt Corporation consisting of a natural roof mounted ventilator and wall supply fans to pressurize the facility and provide intake air for the turbines. The design utilized at this facility is a near duplicate to a ventilation system provided by Moffitt for South Texas Electric Cooperative.
In addition to the general plant ventilation Moffitt Mechanical designed, supplied and installed HVAC products for interior conditioned spaces consisting of MCC Rooms, Switchgear Rooms, Battery Rooms and compressor rooms.
Moffitt Mechanical then finished the project with test/balance and startup/commissioning of these areas to ensure reliability. With Moffitt, you will know your system works. Ask our Moffitt Team how we can put our Power Plant experience to work on your project.

Client: Edwardsport
Application: IGCC Power Plant
Location: Edwardsport, IN
Project Summary:
General HVAC - Steam Turbine & Gasification Structure
Explosion Proof HVAC - Coal Grinding and Slurry Buildings
Source Capture with Stainless Steel Ductwork
Electrical Power & Control Wiring for HVAC
Start-Up Service
Project Profile
Moffitt designed, supplied and installed a unique, automated ventilation system for this large Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) power plant in Edwardsport, Indiana. IGCC is a cutting-edge technology that turns coal into a synthesis gas (syngas) to improve the efficiency of the energy creation process. This process results in very high temperatures and requires a sophisticated ventilation system to keep it the optimal temperature.
Moffitt Mechanical supplied & installed a motor control center to operate the ventilation system in the steam turbine generator building. This system consisted of interlocking several different mechanisms, all supplied by Moffitt, such as wall louvers, roof fans and electric unit heaters. To ensure worker safety and a safe operating temperature for the power turbines all of these components must work as one.
The mechanisms are activated one of three ways: from a control box, automatic activation when the facility reaches a certain temperature or when the sensor in the gasification tower hits its limit. This helps keep the interior area properly ventilated in the safest and most efficient manner.
Moffitt Mechanical was able to install a complete ventilation system meeting all of the unique requirements of this facility. Contact Moffitt about meeting your facility’s needs today.
Client: World Kitchen
Application: Manufacturing Plant
Location: Corning, NY
Equipment Summary:
(1) CRV110”-0” run of 180” size
(35) Wall Louvers - Average 121.88 sq. ft.
Project Profile:
The World Kitchen facility in Corning, NY manufactures dinnerware, baking accessories and glassware. This process produces extreme amounts of heat that need to be ventilated from the building. Moffitt was contacted by World Kitchen to design and provide a natural ventilation system to correspond with a new furnace upgrade.
Equipment was produced at Moffitt Fan, located in LeRoy, NY only 90 miles from World Kitchen facility. The equipment was then installed by Moffitt Mechanical, providing World Kitchen with a single source turn-key system.
Moffitt Mechanical was able to install the vent on the roof without removing the roof sheeting until installation was complete; this installation took place within approximately 22 work days. Moffitt erected the wind band frames at ground level and then used a CG crane to hoist and set base frames.
This Continuous Relief Vent is the largest vent Moffitt manufactures and assembles. This unique design approach allowed furnace work to continue within the facility without concern of outdoor elements entering facility or safety hazard from work occurring directly above heads.

Application: Merchandise Warehouse
Location: Jacksonville, Florida
Equipment Summary
(10) 48” Wall exhaust fans
(16) 48” Hooded roof supply fans/duct drops
(10) 48” Hooded roof supply fans
(2) 10’ x 20’ Labyrinth Natural Ventilator
(1) 10’ x 25’ Labyrinth Natural Ventilator
Project ProfileMoffitt was approached in 2010 by a growing business that had expanded into an existing facility. The facility needed to be converted from a warehouse used to store grocery items to what is now a merchandise distribution center used for light manufacturing, storage and shipping.
This retrofit ventilation project was ideal for the Moffitt Pressure Gravity System®, which combines mechanical and natural ventilation products. This system pressurizes the building with fresh air at the operating levels and exhausts the heat at the roof level.
Moffitt used a zone-by-zone approach to design this project allowing critical areas to be addressed first and non-critical areas to follow as budgets allow.
Moffitt Mechanical, a sister company of Moffitt Corporation, was able to provide installation on this project creating a full turn-key system by Moffitt.
As this company continues to grow, Moffitt continues to provide effective ventilation solutions to meet their needs.

Application: Data Center
Location: Quincy, Washington
Equipment Summary:
(1) Labyrinth - Natural Ventilator - only 144” Wide x 120’ Long
(12) Only 8’-6” Wide x 63’-1” Long
Project Profile:
Moffitt Corporation was approached bya local engineer and a local contractor to ventilate a new data center in Quincy,Washington.
Data centers are large rooms with dozens, if not hundreds, of computers. All of these computers run non-stop and host websites, complex internet applications, and other computer programs. All of the computers in a single area produce a lot of heat. Without proper ventilation, the computers would over heat and litterally melt themselves.
The Labyrinth is one of many natural ventilation products that Moffitt offers. It was ideal for this project due to high air flow coefficient and its lightweight design. The Labyrinth is constructed of aluminum, limiting the impact on the roof structure. It allowed a natural way for the hot air to rise out of the building.
Don’t let a lack of ventilation become a failure error. Let Moffitt design the ventilation on your data center, it’s the Natural Solution.
