1st Labyrinth turn-key project completed

Moffitt Corporation and Moffitt Mechanical has just completed it's turn-key project at Grant Allendale using the Labyrinth.
While the Labyrinth has been provided by Moffitt in the past. This is the first install by mechanical making it a successful turn-key project.
The Labyrinth is a natural ventilator that removes heat and allows in light without letting in rain or snow inside of the facility.
The Labyrinth is perfect for aluminum, steel, glass and process industries as well as power plants and waste incinerators.

Go Green with the GreenRoo

Moffitt Corporation introduces a spin on gravity ventilation with the GreenRoo. The GreenRoo, formerly known as the Hurricane, comes in three throat diameter sizes of 12”, 24”, and 36”, all weighing less than 70 lbs.
The Wind Driven Turbine Ventilator is a cost-efficient and zero-energy use product that, in many cases, is the perfect “green” alternative to exhaust fans.
The vertical vane design of the GreenRoo’s turbine head provides maximum air exhaust while preventing water penetration under all conditions.

GreenRoo™ CONQUERS THE FOOD INDUSTRY OFFERING FREE VENTILATION
|
Kalsec is a food processing plant that wanted more ventilation, but was tired of the expense and maintenance of fans. Once they heard about the GreenRoo they knew that is what they wanted. The only problem was that industry code requires all openings in a food plant to be equipped with insect screens. No problem, we provided this Hurricane complete with an insect screen in its throat and a manual damper to boot.

GreenRoo™ SUCCESS STORIES
|
TVA (The Tennessee Valley Authority) is one of the largest and most influential power consortiums in the US. Being this large, and being government run, you can imagine it’s no easy chore to sell these guys a new product. Fortunately, the GreenRoo™ sells itself. TVA is continuously looking for ways to improve safety, reduce operating costs and to be a good environmental steward. One continual problem they have is constantly maintaining the flock of roof exhaust fans they have ventilating their plants. This constant maintenance is expensive, and a safety hazard, not to mention the tens of thousands of dollars a year it costs to run the fans. Many of their existing fans had become inoperative over the years and the cost to re-wire and retrofit new fans was daunting. Enter the GreenRoo™. On this particular plant they had (22) 30” diameter fans ventilating their turbine building. One 36” GreenRoo™ unit provided more airflow than one of their existing fan, but with no operating costs, no wiring, no maintenance and no noise. The GreenRoo™ bases were factory modified to fit the existing curbs and were provided with manual dampers to keep heat in the building in the winter. And here is the kicker…All (22) GreenRoos were installed in just one day. The installation was completed in September 2004 and TVA is watching them closely for performance. Their big concern is water leakage. The GreenRoo never leaks, but we will be patient and prove it to them. TVA has advised us that if this installation continues to be successful over the winter (it will) that they will continue to replace fans over the rest of their plants.
Paper Mill
If you have ever been in a Paper Mill then you know two things. First, they all have ventilation problems. And second, getting them to try something new is like pulling teeth. But this time things turned out different thanks to the obvious benefits of the GreenRoo™. Greif-Massilion paper this summer was once again fed up with their ventilation in their Paper Machine building. Not only was their ventilation poor but also it was difficult and costly to keep their existing exhaust fans operable. Oh, one other thing about a Paper Mill, they are very tight with expenditures. That’s what helped sell this project. Greif Massilion immediately recognized the advantages of the GreenRoo such as eliminating all future maintenance, the ability of the aluminum construction to stand up to the wet environment and the elimination of power costs. But, what they couldn’t believe was how affordable the GreenRoos were. That affordability and the ease of installation are what enabled the project to move forward and for Greif Massillion to install (6) GreenRoos. Now here is the really exciting part. Moffitt lands largest equipment supply project in company history
|
Moffitt Corporation was awarded the building ventilation portion of Thyssen Krupp’s multi-billion dollar state-of-the-art facility in north Mobile County, Alabama. This project consists of both carbon steel and stainless steel mill and is one of the top 10 largest projects currently being constructed worldwide. Moffitt's sister company, Moffitt Mechanical has been awarded the installation of Moffitt Corporation supplied equipment as well.
Moffitt Corporation will be providing over 15,000 ft of our Continuous Relief Ventilators for the project and nearly 23,500 square feet of our 7090 adjustable wall louver.
We are also currently working equipment orders on large projects for Bechtel Corporation, Black & Veatch and Burns & McDonnell for the Utility Industry.

Moffitt Mechanical lands 2 Industrial Jobs
|
Moffitt Mechanical has recently started work on two Industrial projects. Thyssen Krupp Stainless of Calvert, AL has awarded the installation of the Gravity Ventilation systems for their new state of the art facility to Moffitt Mechanical. The installation consists of several thousand feet of gravity vents with throat widths ranging from 24 inches to 72 inches. When complete, the ventilation system will exhaust several million CFM of hot air from the process to provide improved operating conditions for the plant personnel. Additionally, Moffitt Mechanical has been awarded the HVAC contract for Ash Grove Cement in Arkansas. The systems consist of large DX air conditioning units, associated duct work and ventilation fans and louvers. The systems are cooling various electrical rooms and process areas. Moffitt Mechanical's focus is that of a premier Industrial HVAC contractor throughout the U.S.

The products we are ready to quote and to manufacture include Upblast, Wall, Tube and Vane Axial Fans, Backward Curve, Inline and Radial Centrifugal Blowers, Corro-blast Centrifugal Exhausters, Gravity Ridge vents and Wall Louvers.
The FRP line will be manufactured as a joint venture established between Moffitt and Troy Manufacturing. Moving forward this venture will be known as Moffitt/Polymil FRP Products. Polymil is the air-moving subsidiary of Troy.

The Solution is often supply air!
|
The most common reaction to improve a heat problem in a plant is to add exhaust fans to draw the heat out of the building. In this case, the existing exhaust fans and the gravity ventilation systems were providing adequate exhaust. The other part of the ventilation equation, however, is supply air.
Adequate supply air is often over-looked in industrial applications and is the solution to ventilation problems on a high percentage of retrofit applications. If adequate and evenly distributed supply air is not introduced into the space then ventilation improvement will not be realized.
